      By qwcdirect | August 4, 2010

Cortona is one of the more famous Italian cities. In fact it was only the third city to be built in Italy after the flood of Noah with biblical significance. Being part of Arezzo, this beautiful city has lot to offer in terms of art and culture and the steep narrow paths and some of the walls belong way back to the Etruscan era.

There are many places with historical significance like the Lake Trasimene, the venue where Roman Army was ambushed way back in 217 BC. Piazza Garibaldi and the Italian valleys of Valdichiana are some of the other attractions of the place.

The town is also famous for its buildings from Renaissance architecture age like the church of Saint Maria Nuova and the church of Santa Maria delle Grazie al Calcinaio.

For those who love museums, the Diocesan museum and the Etruscan Art Academy are two very good options.
