Magnetic Island- one of the best tourist attractions

Legend says that Captain Cook felt that this island off the coast of Australia had magnetic powers which were steering his compass wrong, hence the name ‘Magnetic Island’.
Geography:
Magnetic Island is an island on the North Queensland Coast. It has about 23 beaches and bays with golden sand and is fast becoming a very popular tourist destination. Over two-thirds of the island is a protected National Park.
