Colca Valley-must visit for adventurous tourist

The Colca valley is a canyon that was created by the erosive action of the Colca River in southern Peru. The valley has been known by different names like ‘The Lost Valley of the Incas’, ‘The Valley of Wonders’, ‘The Valley of Fire’ and ‘The Territory of the Condor’.
Geography:
It is located about 100 miles (160 km) northwest of Arequipa. The valley stretches for 100 km and reaches a depth of 3400m making it almost twice as deep as the Grand Canyon.
Tourist attraction:
The Colca canyon is home to two of Peru’s largest volcanic mountains, Mount Coropuna and Mount Ampato. Also possibly the biggest attraction is the Andean Condor (Vultur gryphus), known as the largest flying bird on the planet, whose most well-known habitat is this region. ‘Cruz Del Condor’ is a popular tourist hotspot to view these condors.
When to visit:
The canyon is most beautiful and safe during the period from May to December after the rains have stopped. The valley is soon becoming the preferred destination for hiking, river-rafting and mountain biking.

Ischigualasto Provincial Park- a unique rock formation

Ischigualasto is a geological formation of rocks and has a natural park associated with it. This park is located in the province of San Juan, situated in Northwest Argentina. It has a net area of 603.7 km2 (233 sq miles).
The park is part of the western border of the Pampean Hills, and it has characteristic desert vegetation. The temperature ranges from -10 °C to 45 °C. The Ischigualasto Formation contains Late Triassic deposits, with some of the oldest and smallest known dinosaur fossils. These are a favorite amongst paleontologists as they are still in a very good shape.
This park visited by a daily, two-hour tour through the park in a group. The touring party makes a stop at regular intervals to brief the visitors about the meaning of rock art in the park.
There is no public transport to visit the park and the park is best visited by hiring a private vehicle or on an organized tour from San Augustine or San Juan.
